About
Swarm is a negotiated design research project whose nature can be articulated as being involved with: examining possibilities, developing design methodologies and establishing speculative frameworks for critical inquiry.
Aspects of the Inquiry
1. Swarm examines the possibility of logos and symbols existing as difficult and complex entities, as opposed to the common notion of commercially and socially-viable logos existing as simplified, legible entities.
2. Specific design methodologies were developed alongside the visual components of the project—these were used as critical tools for taking apart, re-assembling and reviewing ideas, pre-conceptions and possibilities.
3. The project’s context establishes a loose narrative that extrapolates from our current biotechnological and historical plotline and speculates if personal identification symbols or logos can exist as complex biological symbiotes bonded to the human/animal epidermis.
